From a young age I was delighted to discover an ability to listen to energies moving under my fingers giving massages to my grandparents and pets. Eventually I learned how to follow along and hold a conversation with the entire body.

After an 8 year career as a massage therapist, I decided to build upon these skills by studying Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. As an acupuncturist I am intuitive, compassionate, gentle and patient centered. I believe that each person possesses their own innate healing abilities and that health care should be accessible to all.

I am very excited to be part of a community clinic where both of these ideals are upheld. When you encounter me in the clinic or out on the streets in the East Bay you will be greeted with a warm smile, a sense of humor, and an attentive ear. And, possibly a friendly greeting from my border collie, Salix, as well! I am passionate about providing care for folks in the LGBTQ community, unhoused and low income folks, and anyone wishing to deepen their connection to their own bodies.

Journeying through the complexities of healing as a human has inspired a fondness within me for the spaces between. The subtlety of dancing the line between pain and discomfort, choosing to exist in a space that occupies both light and dark, and finding a rhythmic flow within the surrounding chaos- all have inspired my decision to practice Chinese medicine. I am drawn to the way a needle simultaneously converses with both our physical and energetic bodies, a welcome reminder of how one is inherently affected by the other. Imbued with the intention of re- introducing harmony and balance to mind, body, and spirit, I find joy assisting others traverse their spaces between, while promoting healing from within.

I am currently available for private sessions for those wanting to supplement their community treatments and are curious about journeying more deeply into their healing. Tuning forks, gua sha, e-stim, cupping and needles are all available during private sessions. With over ten years of yoga teaching experience, I also offer alignment, movement, and breathwork recommendations. If you are interested in this offering, please email me directly at acu@orlypoliti.life.

Born in Australia and raised in Baltimore, Maryland I have a Master’s degree in Counseling from San Francisco State University and a Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland, California. In my early career, I worked as an educator, administrator, counselor, mediator and coach in San Francisco and the East Bay, where I was focused on delivering support to Bay Area youth and their families.

Early on in this emotionally and spiritually taxing work, I had my first experience of Chinese medicine in a community acupuncture setting. The acupuncture I received there had a deeply transformative impact on my physical health and healing process. My connection and fascination with Chinese medicine continued to deepen and evolve to the point that I knew with absolute clarity that I wanted to shift my approach to supporting and guiding others’ healing and growth. I have always envisioned my path forward in this medicine as a community acupuncturist working in spaces where low-barrier access to healing is the fundamental, motivating principle.

I believe that healing begins with feeling connection and a deep sense that one is heard, seen, and understood and that any potential intervention, treatment, or interaction has to be rooted first in relationship and connection. My treatments and general approach hold an intention to re- establish harmony between mind, body, and place and utilize different modalities of Chinese medicine to address physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of wellbeing. When not in the clinic space I find joy in movement, exercise and bopping around Oakland on my bike, being surrounded by music and immersed in water whenever possible, hiking with loved ones, and my favorite —the daily stillness and quiet of meditation.

Born and raised in California, I studied and completed my Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from AIMC Berkeley. While there, I honed my studies in women’s health, auto-immune and endocrine disorders, sports medicine and pain management. I have a passion for helping people access their innate healing ability and addressing the root cause of an imbalance to help people feel their best and maintain optimal health. When not treating patients, I enjoy being outdoors, venturing on hikes with my dog and watching NBA basketball (Go Warriors!).
